Morya Mishthan Bhandar

banarasiFood

Four generations of dahi jalebi — hot jalebi drowned in thick dahi and malai, five hundred metres from Ram Mandir morning lines.

Breakfast before darshan

Morya Mishthan Bhandar has fed Ayodhya through four generations of the same family — long enough that dahi jalebi here is not a trend but a timetable. On the main road walking distance from Ram Mandir, the counter steams before sunrise: jalebi fried crisp, yoghurt cool and slightly sour, malai spooned on top. Pilgrims eat standing, fingers sticky, devotion not yet spoken but already sweetened.

What to order

Dahi jalebi is non-negotiable for first-timers. Kachori and mithai fill the counter for those who want savoury after sweet or boxes for the train. The banarasi pillar shows in technique — milk sweets, fried dough, no shortcuts — even if the city’s god is Rama, not Shiva.

Morning circuit

Morya → Ram Mandir darshan → Kanak Bhawan or Tulsi Smarak Bhawan. Evening, save appetite for Mahavir ki Tikki in the lanes — sweet morning, savoury dusk.

Visitor tips

  • Eat dahi jalebi standing — kulhads tip if you walk while distracted by temple crowds
  • Go before [Ram Mandir](/destinations/ayodhya/attractions/ram-mandir-ayodhya) queues peak; sugar energy helps the wait
  • Pair with [Shri Ram Bhandar](/destinations/ayodhya/restaurants/shri-ram-bhandar) peda later as dry sweet contrast
  • Cash and UPI both common; morning batches sell out fast on festival days

Visitor questions

Crisp hot jalebi served in thick tangy yoghurt with malai on top — Ayodhya's signature breakfast, not a dessert in the Western sense.
